Our Groups

We support a growing network of book groups around Glasgow – here we list the groups that are currently looking for members. Get in touch if you’d like to add your group.


Partick VIP (visually impaired) book group – next meeting Friday 8th March, 2-3pm to talk about Jackie Kay’s memoir Red Dust Road.


***New book group*** at the new Bridgeton Library, first Tuesday of the month, 6.30-7.30pm. First meeting Tuesday 5th February. Contact the library if you’d like to join.


Partick VIP (visually impaired) book group – next meeting Friday 8th February, 2-3pm to talk about The White Queen by Philippa Gregory.


The Cosy Mystery Group is looking for new members – they meet once a month in Battlefield. Contact us and we’ll put you in touch with Kim Miller if you’d like more details or visit the page on facebook.


Hillhead Sunday Group

The group that used to meet at Hillhead Library on the first Sunday of the month (2-3pm) plans to start up again on 7th October. If you’d like to join the group, contact bookgroups@glasgowlife.org.uk.


Partick VIP Book Group – next meeting Friday 10th August to discuss The Cellist of Sarajevo, 2-3pm.


Mitchell Tuesday Book Group looking for new members

We meet the first Tuesday of every month – so next meeting is Tuesday 3rd July – and we’re reading  Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind. With only one week to read a fairly meaty novel, we would not expect you to have finished it; we would simply be delighted to see you!

 Partick VIP Book Group 

Visually impaired group reading books on CD. We normally meet on the 2nd Friday of the month, but in June we will meet a week later than usual, on Friday 15th June, 2-3pm, to discuss Rifling Through My Drawers by Clarissa Dickson Wright. We have room for new members and would make you welcome.


Mitchell Poetry Group meeting tonight, Thursday 3rd May. All welcome.


Mitchell Poetry Group – February meeting

We meet once a month on level 5 of the Mitchell and read two poems on a theme. On 2nd February we’ll celebrate (early) St Valentine’s Day with the theme of lurve.  Bring along a favourite love poem.

LGBT group – now full

The group at Hillhead Library is full for now and we are keeping a waiting list. Contact bookgroups@glasgowlife.org.uk to put your name down.


Mitchell Poetry Group – change of date/ venue in December

We meet at 6pm the first Thursday of every month in Level 5’s Literature Centre for lively and informal discussion on everything poetry! *** December meeting will be on 8th December, in Fairfield Room on the ground floor***


***New*** book group at Drumchapel Library meeting on the first Thursday of the month, 1.30-3pm, starting 6th October. The next meeting of the group will be on 3rd November, 1.30 – 3pm, and they’d love to have you. 


VIP Book Group at Partick Library

We are a group of visually impaired people who listen to our books on CD and meet at Partick on the 2nd Friday of every month from 2 – 3pm. We’d love to have some new members.
