Claire McAllister has been in touch from Wigtown Book Festival with a special offer for Glasgow book group members. Jon Ronson has appeared at Aye Write! and is very entertaining.
I am writing to alert your members to an event that may be of particular interest to them, which we are hosting at this year’s Wigtown Book Festival.
On Saturday 6th October at 4.30pm Jon Ronson will be speaking in The Baillie Gifford Marquee, in front of Wigtown County Buildings. Jon Ronson is fascinated by madness, strange behaviour and the human mind. He has spent his life investigating crazy events, following fascinating people and unearthing unusual stories. In Lost at Sea, the best-selling author of The Psychopath Test and The Men Who Stare at Goats (made into a film with George Clooney) has brought together a collection of his best adventures. He shares them with BBC Radio Scotland’s Claire English. (This event will be recorded for future broadcast by BBC Radio Scotland’s Book Cafe.)
Tickets usually cost £8.00 but we are giving a £1 discount to your members if they mention this offer on booking. Alternatively, if anyone from your club wishes to bring a group of 6-plus to the event we are happy to offer a group discount. Please contact Anne Barclay or Claire McAllister on 01988 403222 to arrange this.
With all good wishes,
