After months of planning, it’s finally here: the 2012 Aye Write! programme. We’d love to hear what you think of the lineup and which authors you want to meet.
One event I’m really looking forward to is Jane Harris’ session on 17th March. Jane first came to the Mitchell in April 2006, to talk about her debut novel The Observations. Here she is pictured with a Mitchell colleague (Jane is on the left).
Jane’s new book is called Gillespie and I . The story starts in Glasgow in the 1880s, at the time of the Great Exhibition, and I’m intrigued by all the reviews I’ve read, which say things like “it is not easy to review because the most striking thing about it is the hidden story that emeges as one reads, and that can’t be revealed without spoiling things for the reader” (Scotland on Sunday 15/1/12). Regular visitors to the blog will remember Chrys of the SQA book group saying something similar when she reviewed the book last September. Looking forward to reading it!
