Controversy at Saltire Awards

The award ceremony at this year’s Scottish Book Awards descended into mayhem (okay maybe we exaggerate)  when the winner of the Scottish Book of the Year, Alasdair Gray, initially refused to accept the award. We are glad to report that he reconsidered over the weekend, and decided to accept after all. The award was for A Life in Pictures and you may be interested to know that Alasdair also won the first Scottish Book of the Year in 1981, for Lanark.

You can find out about the winners in all the categories on the Books from Scotland website.
